Those of us participating in the Partnership Program obviously have a vested interest in the overall quality of the site. If someone new comes to the Medium and only sees clickbait articles, then they’re likely to not stick around. That said, I don’t know if I’m going to give someone negative feedback. I think the dynamics of the site kind of mold and push writers to towards making more and more of an effort. The editors of at least the upper-tier publications do a reasonable job of providing good-faith content, as do the curators in seeding the topics. I do have a list of writers I generally won’t read, but I’ve noticed some of them have pretty much all but stopped writing. The collective judgment that gets rendered is something people pick up on when they don’t make any money. Either this motivates them to try harder or to stop altogether. Both outcomes are positive in terms of the overall site quality.
