That's exceptionally dangerous, but will be unfocused unless there are focal points. While I don't think he did it as any kind of intentional strategy, Trump has become the focal point for the anger and existential angst of what by every metric is the losing side of the culture wars. His "unique" qualities (e.g. complete and utter shamelessness) contributed to this and I'm not sure how that will translate to someone else trying to take up his mantle.
And the followers of Trumpism are on the wrong side of every important demographic trend in America. The dynamics of population growth inexorably work against the older, rural, less educated that are MAGA. Biden won the top 20 metropolitan areas in the country, including those in Texas. That's a trend that will favor Democrats. Texas WILL flip Blue within the next 3~5 election cycles due to the specifics of population growth in the State and when it does, it will be almost mathematically impossible for a Republican to win the Presidency again. (The Senate is another story. The House will be a toss-up, depending on the census and all the gerrymandering that's coming.)
What fundamentally worries me is their increasing radicalization as they become a smaller and smaller part of the whole. They believe they are losing "their" America (which of course is BS because it's ALL of us our country) but the danger is they will act like the proverbial cornered rat, lashing out because they feel they nothing to lose.
We're in a scary time.
