Not the first article to conflate "white blue collar" with "THE working class" and won't be the last.

When critiquing the promises of the Democrats, it's worth keeping in mind it's not a sum-zero game. As empty as leftist promises might have been, that doesn't automatically make those on the right any better. In fact, I'd argue in the comparative they are much, much worse.

Since at least the mid-1960s, the Republican Party has been powered by a Devil's Bargain between the economic 0.1% and white Christian nativist populism. The GOP will *always* represent the interests of the economic elite--always--and the greatest con they've pulled all along has been convincing poor whites to consistently vote against their economic interests out of grievance. Even now, in the middle of everything that is going on, what did they recently just propose? ANOTHER tax cut for the wealthy.
