I’m still in the process of helping my 14-year-old son and 12-year-old daughter grow towards adulthood. Their mother is not in the picture, but that is both fortunate and unfortunate at the same time. They have known from a very early age that I am a flawed human being. While they were angry at that for a long time, they are starting to understand I am genuinely trying the best I can. And that where we were is not where we are or where we can be. So we’re muddling forward. I’m glad you and your daughter are speaking again. It does indeed sound like you both needed that time apart to gain some perspective.
